Question 2

Price is above the Range High. Does the framework still apply?

When price breaks above the Range High, it has moved beyond Deep Premium into a structural breakout. The current range is no longer containing price, and the indicator will soon identify a new range using the breakout pivot as the new swing reference. During this transition, the existing quartile levels become less relevant. Wait for the new range to establish before relying on the framework again.

Question 3

Can I hide the quartile lines and show only the Equilibrium?

Yes. Set ShowQuartiles to false. Only the Range High, Equilibrium (50%), and Range Low lines will display. This gives you the simplest possible Premium/Discount view: above Equilibrium is Premium, below is Discount. Add quartile lines back with ShowQuartiles = true when you want more granular zone analysis.

Question 4

The Equilibrium line seems too close to the Range High or Range Low. Is the range too narrow?

If the dealing range is very narrow (tight consolidation), the Equilibrium will naturally sit close to both boundaries. This happens during low-volatility compression periods. The Premium/Discount framework is most useful when the range is wide enough for meaningful quartile separation. Increase SwingStrength to find wider structural ranges, or use a higher timeframe where dealing ranges are typically larger.

The Zone column shows the same value for many symbols. Is the indicator calculating correctly?

Yes. During trending market conditions, many symbols tend to cluster in the same quartile zone. In a broad bull market, most stocks will show Discount or DeepDisc. In a selloff, most will show Premium or DeepPrem. This clustering reflects genuine market-wide positioning. To differentiate within a zone, sort by Position to see the exact percentage — a symbol at 15% is a much deeper discount than one at 45%, even though both show Discount zone.

Question 6

Position shows values above 100% or below 0%. What does this mean?

A Position above 100% means price has broken above the Range High (beyond the dealing range top). A Position below 0% means price has broken below the Range Low. In both cases, price is outside the current dealing range and the quartile framework is temporarily less relevant. The indicator will establish a new range once new swing pivots are confirmed. During the transition, focus on the direction of the breakout rather than quartile positioning.

How do I find symbols transitioning from Premium to Discount (potential long setups)?

Sort by QuartileAge ascending to find symbols that recently changed zones. Then check if the zone changed from Premium (or DeepPrem) to Discount — this indicates price crossed below Equilibrium and entered institutional buying territory. Alternatively, sort by EqDist ascending to find symbols very close to the 50% midpoint, which are at the exact transition point between Premium and Discount.

I see many dots clustered together when price oscillates near a quartile boundary. How do I reduce noise?

Increase SwingStrength to establish a wider dealing range, which may move quartile boundaries away from the current price. Can I show only Equilibrium cross signals and hide quartile transitions?

This is the simplest and often most effective configuration — the Equilibrium cross is the single most important event in the Premium/Discount framework, and removing quartile noise keeps your chart focused on the primary bias shift.

The text labels overlap when multiple transitions happen close together.

Text objects accumulate during choppy periods when price crosses quartile boundaries repeatedly. Set ShowLabels to false for a cleaner view with only dots. Remove and re-apply the study to clear accumulated text objects. If you want labels, increase the timeframe to reduce the frequency of transitions.

All bars are the same shade of green (or red). There is no gradient effect.

If all bars are the same color, price has been in the same quartile zone for the entire visible chart range. This means the market has been trending consistently within one quartile without crossing any boundaries. Zoom out or load more bars to see the full gradient across different market conditions. Alternatively, the dealing range may be very narrow, compressing all quartiles into a small price space — increase SwingStrength to establish a wider structural range.

The bar colors change from green to red very quickly. The chart looks noisy.

Rapid color changes indicate price is oscillating around the Equilibrium (50%) level, frequently crossing between Discount and Premium quartiles. This is the market telling you there is no clear directional bias. Set NeutralZoneWidth to 5 or 10 to create a yellow-colored neutral band around Equilibrium — this prevents rapid green/red switching near the midpoint and gives you clearer signals when price commits to one side.

Can I use only two colors (green for Discount, red for Premium) instead of four?

Yes. Set DeepDiscColor and DiscColor to the same green, and DeepPremColor and PremColor to the same red. This removes the intensity gradient and gives you a simple binary view: green below Equilibrium, red above. While simpler, you lose the information about how extreme the positioning is within each half of the range.

Price is above the Range High and bars are still colored dark red. Should the coloring stop outside the range?

Accepted Answer

When price exceeds the Range High, it is beyond 100% — deeper into premium territory than the range accounts for. Dark red coloring continues because price is still in an extreme premium state relative to the established range. The indicator will recalculate the range once new swing pivots form. During the transition, treat the dark red coloring as confirmation that price is extremely overextended.
