I see too many equal levels cluttering my chart. How do I filter to the most significant ones?

Increase SwingStrength to 8 or 10 to require more bars on each side for pivot confirmation — this finds only major swing points and reduces minor equal levels. Lower EqualTolerance to 0.10 to require pivots to be closer together for qualification. Reduce MaxLevelCount to show only the 5 most recent levels per side.

Question 2

The EqualTolerance setting seems too tight for my instrument. Equal levels I can see visually are not being detected.

Accepted Answer

Increase EqualTolerance to 0.20 or 0.25. The tolerance is measured in ATR multiples, so it auto-adapts to instrument price scale. However, different instruments have different noise characteristics. If your instrument has wide spreads or frequent minor gaps, a wider tolerance is appropriate. The visual check is a good calibration method — adjust until the indicator detects the levels you would mark manually.

Question 3

A line changed from solid to dashed. What does this mean?

The line style change indicates a sweep event — price closed beyond the equal level, taking the liquidity pool. Solid lines are active (untouched) levels. Dashed lines are swept levels. In SMC theory, a swept level has had its liquidity taken. Watch for reversal immediately after the sweep — this is the high-probability stop-hunt pattern.

Question 4

Can I hide swept levels and only show active ones?

Accepted Answer

The indicator does not have a built-in toggle for hiding swept levels, but swept levels automatically expire after MaxLevelAge bars. If you want swept levels to disappear quickly, reduce MaxLevelAge. Alternatively, you can visually distinguish them by the dashed line style — focus your attention on solid lines only.

Question 5

EQHCnt and EQLCnt show 0 for most symbols. Are equal levels really that rare?

Equal levels require two or more swing pivots to form at nearly the same price within the ATR tolerance. On short timeframes or during trending markets, pivots may not repeat at the same level. Try scanning with a higher timeframe (daily instead of 5-minute) where major pivots are more likely to cluster. You can also increase EqualTolerance to 0.20 for wider matching, or reduce SwingStrength to 3 for more frequent pivot identification.

Question 6

EQHSwept or EQLSwept flashed amber but when I opened the chart the level was not swept.

Accepted Answer

This is likely a timeframe mismatch. RadarScreen calculates on the interval set in the interval selector. If your RadarScreen is on 15-minute but your chart is on 5-minute, the equal levels and sweep events will differ. Match the RadarScreen interval to your chart timeframe.

How do I find the best sweep candidates for tomorrow?

At the end of the trading day, sort by NrEQHDst and NrEQLDst ascending. Symbols within 0.5-1.0% of an equal level are your top candidates for next-day sweeps, especially if the equal level has been active for many bars (high age = higher significance). Add these to a focused watchlist for the next session.

I see formation dots but never any sweep dots. Is the sweep detection working?

Accepted Answer

Sweep events only fire when price closes beyond an equal level. If the market has not reached any equal levels since you applied the indicator, no sweeps will appear. Check the chart indicator to see where equal levels are relative to current price. Sweeps are inherently event-driven — they only occur when price reaches the liquidity pool. Be patient and wait for price to approach the levels.

Question 9

Formation dots appear several bars after the swing pivot I can see on my chart. Why the delay?

Accepted Answer

This is intentional and guarantees non-repainting. A swing pivot is only confirmed after SwingStrength bars have elapsed on both sides. With the default of 5, the formation dot appears 5 bars after the actual pivot. Additionally, the equal level requires at least two confirmed pivots at the same price, so the dot appears on the second pivot's confirmation. This delay ensures the signal never disappears retroactively.

Question 10

Can I hide formation dots and only see sweep events?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Set ShowFormations to false and keep ShowSweeps set to true. This gives you a clean chart with only the actionable sweep signals visible. You can still use the chart indicator to see where the equal levels are located.

Question 11

I do not see any colored bars. The indicator is applied but nothing is painted.

Accepted Answer

The PaintBar only colors the specific bar when a sweep event occurs — price must close beyond an equal level. Sweep events are infrequent by nature. If no active equal levels exist near current price, or if price has not reached those levels, no bars will be painted. Check the chart indicator to see where equal levels are relative to current price.

Can I change the sweep colors?

Yes. To change colors, right-click anywhere on the chart, go to Studies > Edit Studies..., select the indicator, click the Inputs tab, and change EQHSweepColor and EQLSweepColor to any TradeStation color name or RGB values. Choose colors that contrast well with your candlestick colors. Amber and Cyan are chosen as defaults because they stand out against standard green/red candlestick colors.

Question 13

A bar was colored but price did not reverse after the sweep. Is the signal wrong?

Accepted Answer

Not every sweep produces an immediate reversal. The PaintBar marks the liquidity take event — what happens next depends on broader market context. Some sweeps lead to sharp reversals (the classic stop-hunt), while others lead to continuation as genuine breakouts. Use additional confirmation: rejection wicks, volume analysis, and higher-timeframe alignment to filter sweep signals that are likely to reverse from those that will continue.
