I see too many rejection zones cluttering my chart. How do I reduce them?

Increase both filter thresholds. Raise MinWickRatio to 0.6 or 0.7 to require more dominant wicks. Raise MinWickATR to 0.75 or 1.0 to require larger absolute wick sizes. You can also reduce MaxRejCount to limit simultaneous zones, or lower MaxRejAge to expire zones faster. On higher timeframes (15-minute and above), the defaults may produce too many zones — tightening both filters is recommended.

Question 2

Zones disappear from my chart suddenly. Is the indicator repainting?

Accepted Answer

No, the indicator does not repaint. Zones are removed for two reasons: mitigation (price closed through the zone, invalidating it) or expiration (the zone exceeded MaxRejAge bars without being tested). Both are expected behavior. Increase MaxRejAge if you want zones to persist longer before expiring. Mitigated zones are always removed because the rejection level has been consumed.

Question 3

What is the difference between Rejection Blocks and Order Blocks?

Order Blocks use the candle body — the last opposing candle body before a market structure break becomes the zone. Rejection Blocks use the candle wick — the wick portion of a candle with a disproportionately large wick becomes the zone. The two concepts identify different aspects of institutional behavior: OBs mark where institutions accumulated positions, while Rejection Blocks mark where institutions aggressively defended a price level. Many traders use both together for confluence.

Question 4

Why does the indicator require both MinWickRatio AND MinWickATR? Can I disable one?

The dual filter ensures quality from two angles. MinWickRatio catches candles where the wick dominates the range (shape-based), while MinWickATR ensures the wick has meaningful absolute size (volatility-based). Set MinWickRatio to 0.0 to effectively disable the shape filter, or set MinWickATR to 0.0 to disable the size filter. However, using both together produces the highest-quality zones.

Question 5

All columns show zeros for every symbol. Nothing is loading.

The rejection block detection requires sufficient historical bars to calculate ATR and identify wick patterns. Right-click the indicator column header, go to Studies > Edit for All Symbols..., click the General tab, and ensure additional bars loaded is set to at least 500. Also verify that MinWickRatio and MinWickATR are not set too high — the defaults of 0.5 each work well for most markets. If the market is in a low-volatility period with small candles, fewer rejections will qualify.

Question 6

InBullZone shows 1 but when I open the chart I do not see the zone.

This is likely a timeframe mismatch. RadarScreen calculates on the interval set in the RadarScreen interval selector (bottom-right corner). If your RadarScreen is set to 5-minute but your chart is on 1-minute, the rejection zones will differ because wick patterns change across timeframes. Match the RadarScreen interval to the chart timeframe you are trading.

Question 7

I am getting too many NewRejSig signals. How do I filter to only the strongest rejections?

Increase both filter thresholds. Raise MinWickRatio to 0.6 or 0.7 to require more dominant wicks (where the wick is 60-70% of the total bar range). Raise MinWickATR to 0.75 or 1.0 to require larger absolute wick sizes. This combination catches only the most dramatic institutional rejection candles — pin bars with very long wicks relative to both their own range and recent volatility.

Question 8

The wick ratio and ATR text labels are cluttering my chart and overlapping.

Text objects accumulate as new rejection signals fire. Remove and re-apply the study to clear old labels. Set ShowWickRatio or ShowWickATR to false to reduce label density. You can also increase both filter thresholds to reduce the total number of signals. Adjust DotOffset to position labels further from bars if they overlap with candlesticks.

Question 9

I see dots but the wick metrics are near the minimum thresholds. Are these good signals?

Signals near the filter thresholds are borderline rejections. The strongest signals have WR above 0.65 and WA above 0.75 — these represent dramatic wicks that clearly dominate the candle. If most of your signals are marginal, consider raising MinWickRatio and MinWickATR to 0.6 and 0.6 respectively to only see the highest-quality rejections.

Can I use the ShowMe without the main chart indicator?

Yes. The ShowMe calculates its own rejection detection internally and works independently. However, using it alongside the chart indicator gives you the full picture: the chart indicator shows the rejection zone boundaries and midpoint, and the ShowMe marks the exact rejection bars with quality metrics so you can prioritize the strongest zones.

Question 11

I do not see any colored bars on my chart. The indicator is applied but nothing is painted.

Accepted Answer

The PaintBar only colors bars when the close is inside an active rejection zone. If no rejection zones exist near the current price, no bars will be painted. This is normal — the absence of colored bars means price is not inside any active rejection zone. Check the chart indicator to see where zones exist relative to current price. You can also lower MinWickRatio and MinWickATR to detect more rejections.

Question 12

Can I change the zone colors to something other than green and red?

Accepted Answer

Yes. To change colors, right-click anywhere on the chart, go to Studies > Edit Studies..., select the indicator, click the Inputs tab, and change the BullZoneColor and BearZoneColor inputs. You can enter any TradeStation color name (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, White, etc.) or use RGB values for custom colors. Choose colors that contrast well with your chart's candlestick colors for maximum visibility.

How does this differ from the Order Blocks PaintBar?

The Order Blocks PaintBar colors bars inside order block zones (based on candle bodies before structure breaks). The Rejection Block PaintBar colors bars inside rejection zones (based on candle wicks with disproportionate wick-to-body ratios). They detect different institutional patterns. Use both together on the same chart for multi-concept confluence — when both PaintBars color the same bars, you have overlapping institutional interest at that level.
