OTE Zone PaintBar

OTE Zone PaintBar adds an unmissable visual layer to your chart by coloring entire price bars when the close is inside an active OTE zone. Green bars signal price is inside a bullish OTE zone — the institutional reloading zone for long entries. Red bars signal price is inside a bearish OTE zone — the institutional reloading zone for short entries. Bars outside all zones retain their normal candlestick colors.

  • Green-colored bars appear when price closes inside a bullish OTE zone (between the 62% and 79% retracement of a bullish impulse swing)
  • Red-colored bars appear when price closes inside a bearish OTE zone (between the 62% and 79% retracement of a bearish impulse swing)
  • BullZoneColor and BearZoneColor inputs let you customize the highlight colors to match your chart theme
  • Optional AlertOnZoneEntry fires an audio alert on the first bar entering an OTE zone
  • Tracks entry state per zone — alerts fire only once per zone visit, not on every bar inside
  • Uses the same detection engine as the full bundle — SwingStrength, FibUpper, FibLower, MinSwingATR, and MaxOTEAge inputs are shared

The PaintBar is the fastest way to see OTE zone interaction on a busy chart. When you see green or red bars, you know price is inside the institutional reloading zone — time to evaluate your entry. No numbers to check, no subgraphs to read.

All signals are guaranteed non-repainting. Once a bar is colored on close, the color will never change.

Who This Is For

OTE Zone PaintBar is designed as a visual confirmation layer that works alongside the chart indicator and ShowMe study. Use it when you want instant awareness of when price is inside an OTE zone.

Apply it to the same chart as the OTE Zone chart indicator. The zone lines show you where the 62%, 79%, and CE levels are, and the painted bars show you which bars are inside the zone. Add the ShowMe study for entry dots and CE touch markers.

Particularly effective on 5-minute to 15-minute charts during active trading sessions when OTE pullback entries happen quickly. The color contrast between green/red zone bars and normal candlestick colors makes zone interaction visible even when scanning through multiple charts.

Works on any timeframe and liquid market. Use the same detection settings across all studies in the bundle for consistent zone identification.

Common Issues

I do not see any colored bars. The indicator is applied but nothing is painted.

The PaintBar only colors bars when the close is inside an active OTE zone. OTE zones require a confirmed structure break followed by a retracement into the 62%-79% range, which is naturally selective. If no active zones exist near the current price, no bars will be painted. Check the chart indicator to see where OTE zones are relative to current price. You can also reduce MinSwingATR to detect zones from smaller impulse swings.

Bars are colored green but the chart indicator shows I am at the very edge of the zone (near 62%). Is this still a good entry?

Yes. The PaintBar colors any bar whose close falls between the 62% and 79% levels. Being near the 62% edge means you are at the top of the zone with the widest possible stop distance to the 79% level. Some traders prefer entering near 62% for earlier fills, while others wait for the CE midpoint (70.5%) for tighter risk. Both are valid entries within the OTE framework.

Can I change the zone colors?

Yes. To change colors, right-click anywhere on the chart, go to Studies > Edit Studies..., select the indicator, click the Inputs tab, and change BullZoneColor and BearZoneColor to any TradeStation color name (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, etc.) or RGB values. Choose colors that contrast with your chart's normal candlestick colors for clear zone identification.
