Breakout Bar Scanner
Breakout Bar Scanner brings breakout detection to your RadarScreen watchlist, scanning multiple symbols simultaneously and displaying breakout data across 12 sortable columns. Instead of flipping through charts looking for breakouts, you see every symbol's breakout status, spike metrics, and range context in one grid.
- ●BO_Dir column shows the direction of the most recent breakout — 1 for bullish (cyan), -1 for bearish (magenta), 0 for no breakout yet
- ●BO_Time and BO_Price record when and where the last breakout occurred
- ●RangeHi and RangeLo show the current consolidation range boundaries for each symbol
- ●Vol_Pct and Range_Pct show how much the current bar's volume and range exceed their averages as percentages — cyan when above the spike threshold
- ●BarsSince counts bars since the last breakout — 0 (yellow) means breaking out right now, 1-3 (cyan) means recent, 4+ (gray) means stale
- ●DistRange shows how close each symbol is to its nearest range boundary, letting you spot symbols about to break out
Sort by BarsSince to see the most recent breakouts first. Sort by DistRange to find symbols closest to a breakout. Sort by BO_Dir to group bullish and bearish breakouts together. The scanner persistently tracks the last breakout until a new one occurs in the opposite direction.
All signals use completed bar data only. Non-repainting guaranteed.

Who This Is For
Built for active day traders and swing traders managing watchlists of 20-100 symbols who want to catch breakout moves without manually scanning charts. Use it to monitor your entire universe for breakout signals and quickly identify the highest-conviction setups.
Add the scanner to your main RadarScreen window. During market hours, sort by BarsSince ascending to catch breakouts as they happen — yellow cells (BarsSince = 0) mean a breakout is firing on the current bar. Check Vol_Pct and Range_Pct to confirm the spike has conviction before opening the chart.
Works on any timeframe. Use 5-minute or 15-minute intervals for intraday scanning. Use daily intervals for swing trade setup identification. Performs best on liquid markets with reliable volume data — stocks, futures, and ETFs. For forex, use iLogicMode = 2 (OR) since spot forex volume data can be unreliable.

Installation Guide
Step 1: Download the indicator file
After purchase, download breakout-bar-bundle-radarscreen.eld from your confirmation email or account download page. Save it somewhere easy to find like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Step 2: Open the Import Wizard
Open TradeStation. Click the File menu in the top-left corner, then select Import/Export EasyLanguage to launch the Import/Export Wizard.

Step 3: Select the import type
In the Import/Export Wizard, select "Import EasyLanguage file (ELD, ELS or ELA)" from the list. Click Next to continue.

Step 4: Browse for the file
Click the Browse button to open a file browser where you can locate your downloaded .ELD file.

Step 5: Select and open the file
Navigate to the folder where you saved the .ELD file. Select breakout-bar-bundle-radarscreen.eld and click Open. The file name shown may differ from the screenshot — look for your downloaded indicator file.

Step 6: Open the Studies menu
Open your RadarScreen window. Click the Studies dropdown in the toolbar and select Add Study.

Step 7: Select the indicator
In the Add Study dialog, make sure Indicator is selected in the Study Type dropdown. Find "!IndHub-RS_BreakoutBars_v1" in the Available list, select it, and click Add. Click OK to apply. All 12 columns will appear automatically.

Step 8: Configure your watchlist and columns
Add your symbols to the RadarScreen watchlist. Adjust column widths by dragging column borders. Sort by BO_Dir to group breakout directions, or by BarsSince to see recent breakouts first. To customize detection settings, right-click the indicator column header, go to Studies > Edit for All Symbols..., and click the Inputs tab.
Common Issues
I am not seeing any breakout signals. All columns show zeros.
Check these common causes: iLogicMode = 1 (AND) requires BOTH range and volume spikes, which is strict. Try switching to iLogicMode = 2 (OR) to see if signals appear. Also check that iRangeMult and iVolMult are not set too high — the defaults of 1.5 work well for most markets. The study needs at least iAvgLen + 2 bars of data to initialize.
The RadarScreen shows a breakout from hours ago. Is it stale?
Check the BarsSince column. If it shows a large number, the breakout is old. The RadarScreen persistently tracks the last breakout until a new one occurs in the opposite direction. Sort by BarsSince ascending to see the most recent breakouts first — values of 0-3 indicate fresh signals.
Can I use this on forex or crypto?
Yes, but forex spot data often has unreliable volume. Set iLogicMode = 2 (OR) so range spike alone can trigger a signal, or set iVolMult very low (e.g., 1.0) to effectively ignore the volume component. Crypto markets with exchange-reported volume work normally with the default AND mode.
